This week's images are dedicated to Team New Zealand

Week 15
1 July 2007

Auckland Viaduct Harbour
Eastern Viaduct

Previously the viaduct was a backwater for a small collection of craft and fishing boats.  Following
Team New Zealand's consecutive wins in the America's Cup yachting race in 1995 and 2000, the viaduct was transformed into a marvelous place to explore, with apartment blocks, hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and markets.  Today it is known as the America's Cup
Harbour, making it the first of its kind in the 152 year history of the America's Cup to
support syndicates, corporations, super-yachts and the public together in one venue.

In putting images together I become active, and excitement is
of another order - synthesis overshadows analysis - Minor White

For the ultimate America's Cup Experience you can book
a trip on NZL40 or NZL41.  Above is the NZL40,

Hosting the America's cup turned Auckland into a Pacific Monte Carlo as the
village played host to 80 superyachts on each occasion
